Artist History
STEVE OWENS (lead vocals, everything but drums) met DAN “DETOX” SIMPSON (drums, back up vocals) while they were both studying Electrical Engineering at the University of Missouri-Rolla. . It was there that they laid the groundwork for the dysfunctional artistic relationship that still thrives between them. They’ve basically hated each other ever since, and use their subversive aggression to craft such hit songs as “JEALOUS GORILLA LOVE”, “DROPPING THE KIDS OFF AT THE POOL”, and “CADILLAC LAND Although impossible to tie down $7 Haircut with a label, PYSCHODELIC SOUL-FUNK-ROCK fits them well. The debut CD “Stevie Steve And His $7 Haircut” has been selling briskly at Kansas City stores, and quickly rose to the number 2 position on the MP3 charts, where it maintained its position for 8 consecutive weeks. |

Press Reviews
"The CD is full of rockers with observations about loves and lives gone sour. Stevie Steve can write the line that sticks. The music shifts from the norm and gives a twist of blues. This CD is slick and contemporary. A must have in anyone's CD collection. The more you listen to it the better it sounds probably b/c Stevie Steve sings with such care and restraint : his sentiments are unmistakable but not over the top, so when he sings you can feel it in your gut." "There's an underling meaning to most of the songs. There's an emphasis on a "message". Stevie brings forth a forceful lyricism in his songs." --------------(The Kansas City Star) |
