Artist History
Aris Karabelas, the founding member of Nom De Plume, formed NDP's first lineup in Baltimore. Nom De Plume's first recordings include a four-song EP, Sun, Stars and Space, and 2 singles appearing on the Maryland compilation series, Spitting Seeds. In 1997, Aris relocated to Boston where the new environment fueled the creation of vibrant new tunes and brought accomplished drummer, Frank Dolfe into the new lineup. During 1998-1999, Nom De Plume could be found performing in venues throughout the East Coast and fine-tuning the songs that would become part of their first CD release, Lovely Land. Soon after the release of Lovely Land, drummer Frank Dolfe married and moved to Philadelphia. Dave Roderick replaced Frank as NDP's drummer and brought Mike Magee, whom he had met while both were attending The Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, into the band as bassist. Dave is a long time drummer and Boston native and Mike, originally from upstate New York, is a former member of the Boston band, Common Thrill. |
