Artist description
Mickle-a-do is a diverse group of Celtic music enthusiasts in Georgia. Our music ranges from the Celtic traditional to that of our own original creation. We have been playing as a group since 1999.
Mickle-a-do plays traditional Celtic instruments such as guitar, high and low whistle, flute, bodh'ran, push button accordian, banjo and an occasional fiddle. To reflect the Celtic music influence in other countries, we have included the bass, bouzouki and spoons. Mickle-a-do's music is a mixture of Old and New World Celtic songs that range from hard hitting jigs and pub songs to moving ballads and instrumentals. While most of the music is of traditional origins, Mickle-a-do has a few of their own originals as well.
Some of our past engagements have been at Eddie's Attic, the Renaissance Hotel in Atlanta, the State University of West Georgia, Indian Springs Scottish Festival, Georgia Independence Day Festival, both the Australian and Canadian Friendship Force Clubs and Atlanta's St. Patricks Day Parade. We currently are regulars at Barney McColgan's Irish Public House in Alpharetta, GA, the Atlanta area Borders Book Stores and other pubs, caves and cravesses around the Southeast!
What does Mickle-a-do mean? In brief, it is a Scottish Gaelic slang term that, when loosely translatedmeans-- Much to do. For such an eclectic group, the name fits them to a T! These whimsical folks enjoy sharing music and fun in the true spirit of the Celts. |
