Artist description
Michael Done is a colourful and versatile Western Australian musician. An award-winning composer and lyricist in many genres, Michael's first love is the soft unplugged sound of voice and guitar, where simple melodies and poetic lyrics capture and express the universal longings for love and peace and happiness.
His latest CD release is a superb example of musical and lyrical craftmanship. The CD single "Child of Peace" forms part of Michael's book "The Gift of Peace - Words of Inspiration and Hope from the World's Greatest Peacemakers". "Child of Peace" is a delicate musical poem that welcomes and celebrates all peacemakers, great and small.
Michael's earlier CD album, 'First Light', also showcases his characteristically reflective yet always accessible style. The lyrics are strong and expressive, with musical arrangements beautifully textured and well matched to the emotions of the songs.
The new single, "Child of Peace, can be previewed here on MP3.com, together with sample tracks from the "First Light" album, plus a special preview track, "Entertaining Angels Unawares" from Michael's forthcoming album "Angels and Other Messengers".
Michael welcomes your contact at any time, so if you'd like to pass on to him any comments or just say 'hello', feel free to email him.

Artist History
Michael has been immersed in music since he was six years old. Inspired by the pop musicians of his childhood (Elvis, Buddy Holly, the Everley Brothers), Michael started playing the guitar when he was eleven and has never looked back.
In the early years, he played folk, classical and flamenco, but then moved into jazz and contemporary soft rock. Song-writing came later, coinciding with the quiet revelation of his vocal talents. Over the last ten years, Michael has won numerous awards from the WA Music Industry Association, and this year from the prestigious Australian Songwriters Association.
In April 2000, the CD album 'First Light' was released, Michael's first recorded collection of original compositions. This was an album of great depth and heart. In that same year, Michael was inivited to Oakland, California, to perform songs from 'First Light' at the international Conference of the Network for Attitudinal Healing, a charitable foundation originally set up by Dr Jerry Jampolski to support the families of children with life-threatening illnesses.
Michael's most recent venture again combines depth and beauty in the form of a CD single "Child of Peace". This CD forms part of the book that Michael has compiled and published, called "The Gift of Peace - Words of Inspiration and Hope from the World's Greatest Peacemakers".
Future projects include the contemporary reflective album CD "Angels and Other Messengers" (due for release in 2002), a set of songs to accompany a children's book, "Tommy Pogo and all His Friends", and a comedy album, "The Angelic Gabriel Lovejoy". |
