Artist description
The Quartet consists of four musicians heavily active in the New York jazz and dodgeball scenes: Scott McLemore recently completed an album under his own leadership featuring Tony Malaby, Ben Street and Ben Monder; Sean Moran is active in several busy groups on the cutting edge of the New Jazz, including The Four Bags (see links) and Twelve Twenty-Six; Dan Fabricatore has laid it down in the rhythm sections of many of NY's finest (musicians, not police); and Ian Carey has been active in a trio under his own leadership, as a composer and arranger, with the folk/blues group Good Bread Alley (see links), Grupo Ven P'aca of San Francisco, and many other things that have presently slipped his mind. |

Artist History
Ian Carey arrived in San Francisco in 2001 under an assumed name as a stowaway on a cargo ship after an active stretch in the New York music scene. He formed the East Coast version of the Quartet in 1998, and they have since recorded a six-song EP, and performed in many local New York and outer-borough venues. An album featuring the West COast version is planned for fall 2003. |
