Artist History
In the fall of '99, Rod released his solo debut to rave reviews. It charted in the CMJ top 30 at about a dozen stations, and went to #2 at KSRH in California. This began a breif courtship with a handful of major labels, but he's remained independant, and has subsequently released 2 new CDs since his debut, with yet another gearing up for release in the spring of 2002.

Press Reviews
Rod Webber is what a youthful Bob Dylan might've sounded like after a couple doing bong-hits & set loose on a couple of samplers loaded with dirty old drum-loops and analogue synth sounds... Don't be fooled, he's all about the song-, but devotion to pop music means the never-ending search for something new; the beat/lyric/chord progression that will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up like they did upon hearing James Brown or the beginning of "Honkey Tonk Woman" for the first time. The problem is that the new stuff is never going to come around again. Every three-chord tune has been written and sold, and no amount of energy can change that. However, new interpretations of ideas cannot be exhausted. Take a few of those established pop forms and throw them in the blender with a little Dylan, a little Beck, maybe even a little Beastie Boys and you end up with Rod Webber's folk-infused circus of sampled soundscapes. |
