Artist History
Cadra Ash- "The moth which has turned to ashes" represents in an ambiguous sense the basic idea of giving in temptation and striving for ruin ? against rational thinking and attracted by eternal lust. This is the best description to characterize the name of this band from the German Ruhr area.CADRA ASH was formed by Tom Dornebusch (synth, bass, programming) and Tatiana Echeverri Fernandez (vocals) in Summer 1994. A few months later Thomas Wiezorrek (guitar, programming) joined them and in the spring of 1995 the three musicians could already perform their first 4-track demo for a very enthusiastic audience live in Essen.Various gigs and the second place in a well-known newcomer competition in Kassel granted the band a good reputation and showed their great potential. Their way up was supported by the growing interest of the media and resulted in their first compilation track for "Gothic Grimoire".But after his track had made the band popular all over Europe, Tatiana left CADRA ASH in December 1996. After a short period of time, Rabea Lange completed the line-up again, in the meantime Tom Dornebusch had been guest musician with "The House Of Usher".Especially the collision of different musical roots makes CADRA ASH so interesting. The dense atmosphere of harmonic and driving bass und drum parts, full of neurotic, queer guitars and hypnotic synthsounds take Rabea?s very special vocals in your consciouness and make you realize that terms like "Dark Wave" and "Gothic" need not necessarily be connected with "gloomy" because coloured spots are responsible for the charme of existence as well. These are the ingredients for the soundscapes with which this unusual band is able to fascinate their listeners. In the summer of 1997 CADRA ASH signed a record contract with "ALICE IN..." and their first MCD "Secrets" was released in the spring of 1998 as a part of the split-CD"EMANATION ? The Sounds Of New Hope Part III"on which the bands "Pictures Of Agony" and "Salt Of Anguish" were presented as well.Since then, CADRA ASH was regarded as one of the most promising newcomer in the Gothic scene. Many gigs at festivals (e.g. Sisters Of Mercy, Atrocity, HIM, Tanzwut) and support act (e.g. The Escape, The Merry Thoughts, Funhouse, Shadow Project, The Hall Of Souls, Experimentum Crucis) in 1998 proved this to be true. The previous year can be called ?without any exaggeration- the most successful in the band?s history. This is underlined by several tracks on compilations (e.g. with "Inner Strife" on "HEX Files Vol. 3"?Compilation ? Credo/NovaTekk-) and shows the growing interest of the audience who will be looking forward to the forthcoming shows and the debut album of this really fascinating band.Essen, March 199 |
