Ex-Then Jerico keyboard player Alex Mungo teams up with Al Ross to bring you some new tunes. Al Ross and the Planets consist of two songwriter musicians - Alan Ramirez (Al Ross) and Alex Mungo. They both write all their songs jointly, and the two are seeking a publishing deal whereby well known artists can cover their material. As close friends, the two plan to continue writing and recording together indefinitely and would be happy to consider a recording deal should the opportunity arise. Artist History
Alan and Alex have been collaborating together since the mid eighties when they formed the original four piece "Al Ross and the Planets" rhythm and blues band with Alan on bass and vocals and Alex on keyboards and vocals. For a year they played their blend of rhythm and blues and Atlantic Soul in London clubs and secured a residency of all places at the (then) exclusive five star Al-Mansour Melia Hotel in Baghdad. In 1985 Alex left the "Planets" having been offered the chance to join "Then Jerico", one of Britain's most up and coming bands at the time. He co-wrote many of their hits and continued as keyboard player until the break up of the band, at which time he joined "Stress" (signed to WEA) as co-songwriter and keyboard player. Stress went on to record an album (produced by Guy Chambers). On tour they supported Lenny Kravitz and Tina Turner but split up in 1992 at which time Alex rejoined his former collaborator Al Ross. Following the break up of the original "Planets" back in 1985, Alan travelled extensively throughout Europe, studying and playing music along the way. He returned to London in 1990 and with the help of his former drummer and two new members, reformed The Planets, and became a familiar figure in London live music venues. In 1992, his band was playing 5 nights a week in London, and he invited Alex to rejoin the Planets. At this stage the group was becoming well known for their exciting performance of sixties and seventies rock and rhythm and blues. Since then Alex and Alan have been writing songs together and have accumulated a vast selection of material. In 2000 they decided to record a selection of songs on their own, and others with the collaboration of their friend Lyndon Connah who has previously worked with artists such as George Michael, Robbie Williams, Thomas Dolby and Take That, among others.
