ARTIST: PARKER EDISON
SONG: MURDER DEM & SERIOUS BUSINESS
GENRE: RAP / N/A
SIMILAR: N/A
Review by: Jonathan Sanders
This track starts out with "Murder Dem", a tight track that really has me grooving. The rap is right on, lyrics are smooth and hard at the same time, and then suddenly it cuts out. The MC is coughing, another is laughing, and then we've got a whole new track.
Though the transition is not done with much pinache, "Serious Business" is such a tight track that I forget the rest. Parker Edison is smooth with his lyrics, hitting you with what I can only call true vocal inflection. The guest vocalist, CP Sick, has one of the most distinctive voices I've heard in a rapper since Snoop Dogg, and I find myself wishing I could hear more of him in this track. These two make a great duo, they spit rhymes in tag team mode like the best rappers out there.
The production is top notch, I found nothing wrong with anything in it except for the crude change between "Murder Dem" and "Serious Business". The beats are both perfect as far as I am concerned, the kind of hip hop beats that will slam through your head and leave you shell shocked. That's the way good rap music should be. Yet Parker Edison is smart enough to make sure his vocals and lyrics take the main spot, giving an awesome performance.
"Serious Business" is certainly that, a track that is well produced and worthy of a spin in any hip hop d.j.'s playlist. It's definitely worth cranking this track up in your speakers, just make sure you turn up the bass.
