Artist History
Started in 1999 (originally known as "Crane") this band came together and began writing some sick ass shit. We decided that we wanted to get a disc out before playing out too many places, so we did.
With the Demo CD - "Gravity" done, we began playing at San Diego's Local Live Music Venues. |

Press Reviews
Dylan Roberts - Digital City San Diego
They got Jay courtesy of Central Florida.
Graeme is from Scotland. Keith was a Louisianan
before seeing the (sun)light and transforming
into a San Diegan. And Travis comes from somewhere
in the land of reggae. Does all this regional dive
rsity affect Mindsize's music? Their material has
an unpredictability that stems from divergent
points of departure -- if not geographic then at
least musical. The band can embrace what sounds
like violin-laden techno and heavy metal within
a single song and then switch gears where they'll
play something ethereal of the Depeche Mode variety.
Together since 1999, the members of Mindsize are
still experimenting with various wholes blended
from their disparate parts.
Steve - Bandconnexion.com
The CD starts with Sticks and Stones, a song full
of emotion and power. The guitar and bass work are
outstanding. They aren't playing the same old
brand of metal that is so abundant these days.
This band is very tight and it show in their
flawless tempo changes and their creativity. The
standout song for me is the third track, Peripheral.
The vocals really stand out with lyrics that are
very cleverly worded and full of pain and loss
that can only come from real life experiences.
The low penetrating vocal style lets the listener
feel the story as well as hear it. There is a
mysterious feel to this song that breaks into
growling heavy choruses and a breakdown that
catches you by surprise. There are a lot of
surprises on this demo. Some really great effects
that give a warm feeling to Nothing's Easy and a
little trickery to overcome an obstacle on Gravity
(another standout song for me). This isn't the
typical first demo CD. These guys took their time
in the studio and produced five high quality songs
that are going to take San Diego by storm.
My rating: 9/10. Jay contacted me to give me a
copy of their demo. To tell you the truth, I
haven't taken it out of my CD player since then.
So, who is Mindsize? A new metal band that San Diego
is going to love! - Steve
