Artist History Lol Tolhurst was born on the Third of February 1959 , years later he would discover that it was the very day that Buddy Holly passed on.... ......Fast forward to 1976 , an adolescence shaped and formed by music inspired and drew together Robert Sm ith , Lol, Michael Dempsey and Porl Thompson to form The Easy Cure and start writing and performing their own unique style of music . In 1978 they dropped the 'Easy' and Porl left. From then on the trio was known as The Cure the rest, as they say, is history . From 1976 Lol played drums to around 1982 he then moved over to keyboards until 1989 . After over a decade of success, many recordings , and numerous tours worldwide, Lol departed The Cure in 1989. After some time off Lol started a new project called Presence which produced their one and only album Inside in 1993. Then in 1994 somewhat disillusioned by the end of Presence he left England and moved to Los Angeles, California in search of a new existence. Now, in the year 2001 (after a false start or two !) Lol returns to the world of music with his new project Levinhurst consisting of Lol (electronica/ keyboards) and his wife Cindy Levinson (vocals). The name Levinhurst a combination of both their names. People t ell me it reminds th em of the name of some kind of institution Lol says which is quite appropriate I suppose! Levinhurst's sound appears as a mixture of the new electronica together with pop and punk sensibilities, combined with experimental ideas a n d textures. About the inspiration for Levinhurst Lol says I wanted to do something positive now as I have felt very stimulated by recent trends in music, it feels to me just like when I first started making music, which seemed like a good enough r e ason to do some more ! ....to be continued ?r˙˙?
