Elly K's 5 song demo is just as much a commercial for her production & slickness of songs as it is for her glory as a female songwriter with unadulterated skill. The sexy, breathy, beat-laden 'Intangible' which keeps instructing the boy to 'bend down' is quite a surprise in its forthright nature. Dance to it, grope to it, fall in love to the voice that is perfectly clear and has a Bette Midler (a Bette who doesn't waver, and a younger Bette) tone to it. Gentle, forgiving: Especially in the end track, 'Fairy Tale For Girls' which is credited as an acoustic live track. If she's live on this vocal performance, she needs no 2nd take. The simple piano behind her pop ballad combines to make this as memorable as possible. No wonder Ms. K has won the Unisong and Mid-Atlantic Song contests with her '15 Minutes of Fame,' the 1st track on this cd. I won't comment on that song - gotta leave Some surprises for ya! But I will say that anyone who attended University of Southern California's school of music, sang backup for Joe Cocker's 1999 tour, and can sing like this is going to climb right up there with Tori Amos.
