Artist History
Multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Rick Eppedio and lead singer C.R. Keyser-Posner first began playing together in a prototypical rock cover band in the late 1970s before putting aside their set lists to form Barbarian Lovers as an original studio project in 1984. Encouraged to continue collaborating by early major production interest, the pair formed their own independent label in 1987, and began servicing markets in western europe and asia, as well as the u.s. college scene, garnering much positive press and radio response, particluarly in spain, italy, and scandinavia. Following seven single, LP, and CD releases by the band on various foreign and domestic labels- including London-based Aura Records, where labelmates included Alex Chilton, Steve Marriott, and Nico -the Barbs went on extended hiatus, later resurfacing as the harder-edged Smoke Ring Days. Compared by critics to acts ranging from Tears for Fears to Eurythmics, this collection reflects the time in which these tracks were written, and the lives of those of us who were there.
