Artist description
The Daniel Project’s music is full-bodied rock at its best -- high-energy, rambunctious, worshipful, eclectic and just plain fun. The band crafts a blend of infectious melodies with thoughtful lyrics which range from hard-hitting songs of simple truth (I’m Not, Backslider’s Blues), worship songs of honest devotion (Face to Face, Still There is You) or insights drawn from personal life experiences, such as the title track from their debut album, Silence of the Heart. Silence of the Heart speaks of the loneliness and separation our sin causes and how Jesus’ love and grace break thru this silent barrier.“Even while I was yet a sinner,” reflects Daniel Cox, lead vocalist and guitarist, “God’s merciful love broke thru and met me at my deepest need.” Impassioned by a deep desire to bring this great news to those who most need to hear it, Daniel and his band mates Manny Huerta on lead guitar, Marco Gomez on bass guitar and Steve Stone on drums actively seek to impact the world not just in their music, but by example. Going where God leads – wherever that may be – has taken the band from churches in The San Francisco Bay area, coffee houses near Magic Mountain, youth groups in Irvine and carnivals in Orange.Although from diverse backgrounds, each member of The Daniel Project works to show up ready to bring all his gifts to bear, including those yet undiscovered. “Learning to trust God and be obedient in the journey can be tough.,” says Daniel. “Often, we’re stretched beyond our comfort zone and what we know. But God says he’ll complete the good work he began in us. That’s comfort enough for us.”Indeed, with the release of Silence of the Heart in June 2000, the band has been busy as God continues to provide the opportunities to share their unique music and stories to varied audiences. From churches to youth groups, coffee houses and carnivals, The Daniel Project shows up and does what it does best – makes a joyful noise unto the Lord. And God…He does the rest. |
