Artist History
Svetlana Strezeva is a prominent Russian born American soprano. She is a Laureate of the P. Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow, M. Glinka Vocal International Competition in Minsk. Svetlana did her professional s tudies at La Scala in Milan, Italy, under the guidance of Opera Diva G. Simionato. Mme. Strezeva was Prima Donna of the Moldova National Opera Company. She made her debut at the Bolshoi Theater as Shemakha in "Le Coq D'Or" by Rimsky-Korsakoff under the direction of Maestro Eugene Svetlanov. Svetlana also sang at the Kirov Theater in St. Petersburg as Violetta in "La Traviata" under the direction of Eugene Colobov. In addition to her very busy schedule at the Moldova Opera she also sang leading roles with touring opera companies and solo recitals in Baltimore, Boston, Brussels, Bucharest, Chicago, Helsinki, Miami, Milan, New York, Rome, St. Petersburg, St. Louis, Tallin, Odessa and many other cities throughout the world. Svetlana has recorded with the Bolshoi Opera Orchestra, Moscow Pops Symphony and the orchestra of Russian Folk instruments. She has been praised as "The Great Russian Nightingale" by Russia's St. Petersburg press. Now residing in the United States with her husband, clarinet player, and their two children, Svetlana's career is flourishing in recitals, as well as soloist with symphony orchestras. |
