Artist History
Shoot The Hostage came together merely by coincidence. Originally, there was the Milwaukee metalcore band, Scapegoat (anno 1998-2000). It featured [guitarists/co-founders] Louie Pahl & Parker Krieg, [bassist] Chris Wenzel, [singer] Mark Fisher, and [drummer] Ryan Schofield. When Ryan left the band for his new career, they needed a replacement drummer. Barry Jaeger of the band, Lee Harvey Oswald, filled that void not long after. Scapegoat and LHO had ironically played a show together about a month proceeding the lineup change.

Eventually, the band abandoned its old material, changed its name, and became a new musical entity (in September 2000). Jason Ploetz, formerly of Will Build To Suit, was soon added as a second vocalist in the band. The band played some shows and went into the studio to record their 4-song demo "The Pain In My Heart; The Blood On My Hands." They continued to play more shows and do a little touring.

In September 2001, bassist Chris Wenzel left the band to pursue other musical aspirations. He was replaced by Noah Nickel, formerly of His Autumn Falls [www.geocities.com/hisautumnfalls]. In October 2001, original vocalist, Mark Fisher left the band to concentrate on school responsibilities. He was replaced by Shawn Page, formerly of Invoke The Flood [www.geocities.com/invoketheflood]. In November 2001, second vocalist, Jason Ploetz was let go of (due to scheduling conflicts). Shawn would be handling all vocal duties from that point on.
_____________________________________________________________________
Following the major lineup change, the band changed its name to Wings Of Scarlet, after about 3 shows under the old moniker. As for the fates of ex-Shoot The Hostage members, here goes:
_____________________________________________________________________
After original bassist, Chris Wenzel, left the band...he started a "dark atmospheric rock" band called ide [www.ideBand.com]. Vocalist, Jason Ploetz, filled in on bass for Forever Is Forgotten [www.ForeverIsForgotten.com] in their earlier (non tech-metal) stages. He is currently playing bass for one of Milwaukee's metalcore darlings, Love's Despair [www.LovesDespair.com]. The other half of Shoot The Hostage's dual vocalist combination, Mark Fisher, somewhat recently joined Die Alone [www.DieAlone.com], in place of Art Henke. Second bassist, Noah Nickel, was in Shoot The Hostage/Wings Of Scarlet for a while, and then eventually left to join End This Day [R.I.P.]. He also played in Project Rocket (pop punk/emo band featuring members of 7Angels 7Plagues/Misery Signals, and Kill The Slavemaster/Racetraitor).
