    Artist History
Hi,You can call me Flash. I am primarily a Guitar player but I can get around on other instruments too. I write, record, and produce my music using just an Electric Guitar, a cheap multi-fx unit, and a generic PC. I started playing Guitar at age 7. Later I additionally played Violin in the school orchestra. When I became a teenager, I discovered Electric Guitar and Rock and Roll. In Junior High I started my own garage / basement band. We played parties in our neighborhood held by the local High School kids. I was always very infatuated with music, but playing those parties really solidified my decision to make music a career. I kept practicing and studying music of all styles. I was in High School when I read an ad in the local classifieds. A local band with a good history and a decent following was auditioning lead guitarist. I made the audition. I quit school and was soon traveling constantly playing 80’s Rock in clubs all over the Midwest. After playing on the road for over 3 years, I decided to move to Kansas City to study Jazz and Classical Guitar. I studied Jazz Guitar under Kansas City legend “Sonny Kenner” and “Inner String” member “Rod Fleeman”. I studied Classical Guitar under “Douglas Niedt” and Modern Music Composition under “Dr. Robert Cooper” at UMKC Conservatory of Music. At the conservatory, I focused on orchestration and composition. I became very involved with atonal techniques. While in Kansas City, I started many working bands with my specialty being Jazz / Blues / Rock / Funk versions of Alternative / Classic Rock (heavy on the improv). The audience seemed to love it and I know that we sure had a great time. During that period I had also done some session work for ‘70’s Polygram artist “Ron West” and his brother, ‘80’s Virgin artist “Gary West”. I am very computer literate and have a thorough understanding of modern and vintage recording gear. I have also worked as a recording engineer for the above mentioned “Ron West”. Right now I work for a software development company where I get to play around with UNIX, SQL, and C. Working with computers is fun, but I am starting to realize that a person should really go after what is in their heart. For me this is music. So, I decided to write these songs and put them out there for criticism or collaboration. Thanks for reading…I hope you enjoy my story and my music.
