Artist History
Mendoza formed in September 2000 from the ashes of Midlands favourites Monochrome and Hush. After releasing well received, low key e.p.’s both bands folded leaving their respective fanbases holding their breath.Mendoza picked up the trail where the others had left off and proceeded to up the odds, taking the local scene by storm. They have been described by Gajoob as ‘the U.K.’s most exciting new alternative rock band’, and have been compared to the Manic Street Preachers, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins and Queens Of the Stone Age. They play well-crafted songs driven by a powerful rhythm section and coloured by dynamic guitars, harmony backing vocals and strong emotional lead vocals. This is all topped off by thought provoking lyrics. All these ingredients have helped to form an individual sound that has been winning over audiences wherever they play.Recent support slots with Llama Farmers, Contempo, the Junket, Pulkas, Lights and Remote Control have helped swell the numbers of their fanbase.Mendoza run a successful website and mailing list which has created industry interest in the U.K. and the U.S.A.They have recently been recording at their own studio for Mono8 records, and are currently preparinng to undertake a U.K. tour and London Dates to tie in with the new e.p.’s late spring release, and have been tipped by industry insiders to explode this year. |

Press Reviews
"Another three piece making an impact on the local circuit are Mendoza. Formed only a few months back, this is part of their recent assault upon the venues around the county. Keen to play live as often as possible, they approach the set with enthusiasm which is carried through in the songs. Opening with All I Really Want, the crowd respond well. Recent comparisons have been with the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Jeff Buckley and the Foo Fighters, impressive to say the least. They may have the influences of such great's, but they also have an individual appeal which creates a pigeon hole all of their own. Cleverly constructed songs played well, something which every good band need. Playing Drama Queen, Everybody Knows and ending on Coming Down, Mendoza wrapped yet another live performance that could do nothing else but expand on their following" NMP-ONLINE "For tonight only, this tour is joined by the very fabulous Mendoza. The three peace with plenty of rock themselves, the band are more than enough as the opening act of the evening. Rocking in all the right places, and treating us yet again to their fine collection of songs. The band look right at home set amongst the likes of the Llama Farmers, something the crowd thought to."NMP-Online |
