Artist History From 1984 to 1988, Kyle began the long road of dues-paying, playing in a myriad of popular cover bands, on the then thriving Florida club circuit.In 1988,with a desire to pursue original music, Kyle joined forces with brothers Drew and Chris Bartenope,the core of which would later become the impetus in forming the Bartenope's landmark project - The Beautiful Destruction, an incredibly popular band on the L.A. scene in the early 90's.After parting ways with Chris and Drew, Kyle headed west to L.A.playing in various bands, most notably Tricky Dick. After a less than fulfilling tour of duty in L.A, Kyle returned to Florida to fullfill his own musical vision via the critically acclaimed, Quixotic Reality Trip, more popularly known as QRT. From 1993 to 1996 QRT,played live incessantly, garnering a reputation as one of the best original bands in the state of Florida.Sharing the stage with the likes of The Hazies,The Warren Bros.,Mighty Joe Plum and Stuck Mojo, QRT quickly became critically acclaimed darlings of the Florida music press.1994 saw the debut of QRT's first studio effort, "spoonfed...",an EP featuring 4 tracks,each averaging an epic 6 minutes in length, still unheard of in today's attention-span-challenged music climate.While other bands were either desperately lost in the tired regalia of 80's pop metal, or cashing in on the popular grunge trend, QRT remained true to themselves and their music, by creating a rare hybrid of pop, funk and rock, featuring layered harmonies, busy bass grooves and a 12 string acoustic playing frontman to boot. In the 2 years following the release of "spoonfed..." QRT amassed over a dozen award nominations, at various local and regional award shows. Most notably, QRT were nominated as Best Original Band in Florida at the 1995/96 statewide Jammy awards, along side Tabitha's Secret,whom later became multi-platinum artists matchbox twenty.The culmination however came in the form of Kyle's nod as Tampa Bay Area Songwriter of the Year, in 1995. However, as in most cases, all good things must come to end. After a brief flirtation with Capricorn Records, QRT parted ways. In the next 4 years to follow, Kyle decided to give music a rest and pursue his other passion - filmmaking - where he excelled as an award winning art director.In 1999 Los Angeles beckoned once again. Subsequently, Kyle relocated West to continue working in the film industry, but more importantly, to resume his career as a Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist. Currently Kyle, is in the midst of forming a new band project - Five Star Deluxe - Rawk & Pop in the vein of Marvelous 3, GooGoo Dolls and Tonic.
