    Press Reviews
The moment I saw the cover for this album, I knew I had to check the band out; and the moment I heard them on mp3.com, I knew I had to have the album. That happens a lot with me. I’m terribly impulsive, and pretty often, my momentary excitement for a band dies off before the album even reaches me. Orange County, California’s Cheswick, however, is a local band that is truly amazing in their grasp of their music, and the cd has found difficulty leaving my player ever since I got it. This album seems to be the arena for an arm-wrestling match between Saves The Day and Elliott, with neither fully winning as Cheswick blends highlights of both sounds to form tracks such as “The Line”, “Letters In Numbers”, and “Nomad”. The starting track "I Say" spurs anticipation, starting off gently then moving on with beats that are full of promise for the rest of the album. And the following tracks do not disappoint. "The Line" gives the first taste of vocalist/guitarist Chris Whyte's singing tenor, his voice full with its hollow tone and dynamics. The emotional lament of "Curtain Call" is uplifting, and a personal favorite, along with "13 Days Into February", which makes a comforting resting pad with its slower, more acoustic pace. "SPF Zero" is another great song. The relaxed beats, pulsating guitar work, and Chris' amazing vocals, all pump the ending track with a satiated quality that has you keeping your fingers crossed that there'll be another song after it... Even with this tight album and a strong local following, Cheswick continues to be relatively unknown, though for the love of music I have no clue why. Their melodic rock with all the right emo elements smoothly weaved in make Cheswick and their debut EP "Better Than My Best Dream" a truly wholesome listen... that definitely stands as being better than my best dream. Tristan. -OperationINDY.com Tight and together indie rock, falling alongside the more upbeat post punk bands with that melodic and dynamic drive that hits like Jimmy Eat World or sometimes The Get Up Kids. At times the style seems a little contrived, falling for the same formula, and I don't know about a bunch of California kids singing emotive songs about the Midwest and the highway drive. Caught between love and loss, and always waking up on the wrong side of the romance. Still, when the drums hit that steady beat and the guitar falls to a whisper, letting the bass carry the tune before the band explodes into action, I can't help but feel my pulse quicken. The quietest moments shine the brightest, and the energy makes those moments even better. Marcel Feldmar (ink 19 press) Cheswick features ex- members of the now infamous One Hundred Words For Snow doing a little more straight forward indie / emo rock and roll. Seven punchy powerful songs that inspire you to sing along. (CS)-Geek America
