BURNING SONS release Polaris Mon Amour Yes, it's true...Burning Sons have just released their 4 song project entitled "Polaris Mon Amour." Aron Noll and the other co-founder, Lloyd Epperly, decided to record a new. The project contains 3 songs the band has played for a couple years and one brand new song. Burning Sons continue to mine the 'etherealneo-psychedelia-space-rock-whatever' sounds that run throughout their heads, reminding people of The Church (Epperly's vocals are eerily close to Church vocalist Steve Kilbey), early Pink Floyd and the Flaming Lips, yet sounding like, well, Burning Sons. The opening track, "Wheel," starts things off musically and lyrically with a trip through ancient visions, prophesies and spirits spinning overhead. Taken from the visions of the Old Testament prophet Ezekiel, the music strives to recreate the other worldly experience of this moment. Noll's chiming electric and subdued acoustic guitars weaveseamlessly in circles through the listener’s head. Track 2, "Legion," also mines the mystical, taking threads from a Biblical story of possession. Epperly takes on the state of the character and his spiritual upheaval, emulating the loss and restoration of sanity. With a tremolo-laden guitar track, the song lurches back and forth on the edge of stability, ready to break into chaos at any moment. "Don't Know Why" tackles the subject of spirits of a different kind. With the punchy, driving backbeat and manic guitars, the song creates the vibe of one who, being spiritually devoid, fills the void with alcohol. The closer, "Mississippi," recreates the night that musician JeffBuckley drown, wondering if Buckley was of the same muse as his father who also passed away while still in his prime. The song itself flows like the Ole Miss and the river of spirits past that have been carried to the "sea;" their final resting-place. Overall, this 17+ minute CD is deeply spiritual both musically and lyrically. Given the opportunity, it can take the listener to places that are not of this world.
