Artist description Her pure voice and unspoiled, powerful presence have gained the young singer songwriter from Minneapolis a steady following in the year since she began playing solo gigs. Songs like "Keeping Me Whole", "Down To The Hollow" and "Half Blind" are soulful evocations of female coming-of-age and struggles with love and self-knowledge. Her range spans from grassroots r&b to rock and roll. Trina attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating with a degree in Professional Music. She stayed in Boston the next year singing background vocals in a number of bands and doing voice-overs for commercials. "I wasn't ready to step out front and do my own thing", she said. "The year after graduation was a time of soul searching for me." She moved to New York City and joined the band Blue Leaves and played the New York City club circuit. This enabled her to begin writing her own material, find her voice and gain confidence. Demand has grown steadily: Trina played the Newport Folk Festival this summer along with Ani DiFranco, The Indigo Girls and Dar Williams. While touring acoustically across the country she has played shows with Paula Cole, Duncan Sheik, Ricki Lee Jones, John Hiatt and many others. Trinašs single, "Keeping Me Whole", received air play last year on Q102 radio in Cincinnati and college radio has been picking up on her solo acoustic release "Alone". She is currently working with a band, recording new material and planning a tour of the West coast in early 99.
