Artist description
The bastard child of techno raped by hardcore crust/grindcore, SCHIZOID confounds with alarming screams of digital hardcore anguish and paranoia over top of an arcade soundtrack of punker-than-fuck gabber-electrocity... The return "ALL THINGS ARE CONNECTED" will leave you tranced and trampled - proceed with caution... |

Press Reviews
KERRANG/JUNE 2002: "This is no-holds-barred sonic terrorism with a wicked, shit eating grin on its face and an utterly punk rock, snotty attitude. Virtually every song sounds like a large consignment of hi-tech equipment being kicked down the stairs. Fantastic." - ***BLISTERING.COM/MAY 2001: "Combining the most hostile elements of black and grind metal with digital hardcore and gabba, this music isn't so much musical as it is a sensory assault on the ears and mind." - *****TERRORIZER/JULY 2000: "...speaker shredding abuse in the vein of Pan Sonic, Kid 606 and the Boredoms..." - AVERSION ONLINE/MAY 2000: "Digital hardcore mania! I see tons of possibilities here, I’d looking forward to future efforts." *** THE PLAGUE E-ZINE/MAY 2000: "A one-man band from Canada, Schizoid (aka J. Smith) cranks out some brutal sample-based mayhem. The press seems to have branded Schizoid as a 'digital hardcore' band, which is fine I suppose, as I think they actually fit that name better than most of the crap that gets called by that name." ***IN FACTION/JAN 2000: "This album is a living breathing embodiment of every form of techno, noise, and electronic experimentalist music... on crack." ***RAW 42 ZINE/DEC 2000: "I figure the word has been all used up but I honestly can't help it when I use 'extreme' and schizoid in the same sentence. I know everyone uses it but this crazy ass canadian is extreme, in fact he's so extreme, I'll go even further and call him a fucking psychotic musical maniac. he takes hardcore to the very edge and then spits in its face." ***EXCLAIM MAGAZINE (CANADA)/AUG 1999: "'Enough Is Enough!!!' is a relentless bundle of hissing noise, gabba beats, metal guitar riffs and distorted vocals, intertwined with the occasional breakbeat and sample. Schizoid is more than competent and just as riot-inducing as any of his peers." ***ECHO MAGAZINE/AUG 1999: "Once you've been exposed to Schizoid, you won't soon forget the sound of music's worst nightmare..." *** |
