Artist History
The monastery Maulbronn: "The most beautiful among the older monasteries in Germany" Baedecker, the international traverlers guide known for conservatism in comparisons ans praising adjectives, calls Maulbronn Monastery. And there is no gainsaying that the eight hundred years old Cistercian settlement in Swabia in Württemberg, about midways between Heidelberg and Stuttgart, is not only beautiful, but also fascinatingly interesting. It is one of the most perfect examples of large and fully preserved medieval cloister complexes anywhere in Europe and, although all styles of architecture from the Romanesque to the Late Gothic are represented in the ensemble, of a oneness that is surprising. The art treasures it contains are worthy of a great museum. With its history great men of science and literature are closely connected, who attended the evangelical theological seminary now there. Among them was the famous astronomer, Johannes Kepler and Hermann Hesse. More recently, great artists, scholars, and royalty have become frequent visitors. Maulbronns history begins with the year 1147, when monks of the severe Cistercian order packed their few bleongings on a mule and decided to build their monastery on the spot where the animal would first quench his thirst. The well at which it did, is still splashing in the cloister park. Maulbronn is since 1993 on the UNESCO list as a world heritage. The New Symphony Orchestra Sofia was founded in 1991 by the music critic Julia Hristova, its current president. The orchestra was established as an alternative organisation to the state subsidized cultural institutions in Bulgaria. It recruits young musicians offering them professional field, where sharing their skills, new chances and opportunities to play music and create a flowering of more kinds of music in more people’s lives. Since 1997 the orchestra is directed by Rossen Milanov. |

Press Reviews
“The upbeat in the CD edition is a drum beat... the technical sounding, outstandingly successful recording supplies the discography of the work with an interesting and worth listening to variant on the recordings by Harnoncourt, Gardiner, Marriner and Creed.” (Dr. Karl-Georg Berg, DIE RHEINPFALZ |
