Artist description
Durian’s sound is a mosaic of jagged guitar and broken pop, inlaid with alternately lilting and expansive vocals, and set with complex, churning rhythms. Dissonant shards of guitar somersault and enmesh with heart-on-sleeve singing over pounding, mathematic bass and drums. The result? A subversively intricate coupling of melody and noise.

Artist History
Having existed in various incarnations for over three years, Durian finally committed some of its work to tape in August 1997, recording a full-length live-to-two-track CD. The Summer of 1998 found the band back in the studio for a 7" session, the outcome of which ('Goodwill') is available directly from Diver City Records, the Dischord Direct and Saul Goodman M.D. distribution catalogs, as well as at finer indie-ish record stores. On the heels of their 7" record's release, Durian played many shows, both in their home city (Washington, D.C.) and throughout eastern North America on a month-long tour.
In Summer 1999, Durian will head back into the studio to record a full-length CD with Engineer/Producer J. Robbins. Upon release of the CD in Fall 1999, Durian will embark on a lengthy nationwide tour.
