Artist History
Since 1989 a Los Angeles based electronic junk punk disco noise disruption... performance based low-end technology... west coast, south west, and national tours... recorded material for home and public use... BABYLAND embodies the integration of electronic music with the direct approach of hardcore and the intensity of junk noise.Compositions are conceptually based on the extreem emotional elements of humankind as reflected in our continual evolution and search for meaning within our own existence. We utilize machinery twisted through misuse and human error to aggressively address our audience with empathy and concern; The electronic element and primitive rythmic base of the music providesan intense clarity and opposition to the resulting confusion and noise. The stronghold of our existence has always been intense live performances which confront audiences with extreme energy, harsh sonic and visual elements, and expreimental destruction. We exist as a completely independent entity; All production, booking, merchandise, and communications are handled personally by the band. We continue our work with the strongest commitment and determination possible, and we depend on your support. We will not go away. |

Press Reviews
BABYLAND - Outlive Your Enemies (CD, Mattress, Electronic rock)Electronic punk pioneers Babyland are back with their fourth full-length release. This band has come along way since their humble beginnings. While certain constants remain (alienated lyrics, metallic/harshpercussion, general intensity), these guys have expanded upon a formula that already worked. Babylandwas...and still is Smith (percussion/noise) and Dan Gatto (electronics, voice). It's interesting how manybands have aped Babyland's sound over the past decade. Despite all the imitators, however, Smith andDan still have the market cornered on harsh electronic punk. The lyrics are as smart and thoughtprovoking as ever...but this time around the tunes themselves (and particularly the arrangements) aremore diverse and challenging. Possibly the best Babyland release yet, Outlive Your Enemies is a disc thatdemands the listener stand up and take notice. GREAT. (Rating: 6)babysue music review--------------------------------------------------------------------------BabylandOutlive Your Enemies(cd - mattress)Babyland brings experimental danceable industrial. The music is raw andhard but yet melodic. A lot of bands have done something like this butnone of them did it as good as Babyland and you must love this album. Feeling down ? Well, put this CD in your stereo. Outlive Your Enemies hasloads of potential hits as Creeping Up, Sophomore, Youth Choker and SafeEquals No Sound. Outlive your enemies brings 15 songs and all th elyricsare in the booklet. About one hour of music that you never heard before. Babyland is the drug for energie. |
