Artist description
"Weisse Sklaven" from Germany has been founded in 1998 in La Specia, Italy by Barbara Gessner and Christoph Strieder after a long time of New Wave, Dark Wave, Industrial, Punk and Video Art. Barbara, as student of fine Arts (?) in Italy, decided, some of these funny sounds I used to produce might be art, and as she doesn´t really play an instrument other than the Boss DR-55, she prefered to be an art director and tell me, what the sounds and songs should be like. We both decided to stay dilletant and to hate any compromise. Thats why we sing German. By the way this gives most of you the comfort to not understand our song-texts. Besides we´ve been talking german for such a long time... I asked Barb to do an Italian Text like "Aspedando Godo" from "39 Clocks", but she wouldn't...! Would be great, if anyone of you would share a melancholy feeling with our songs...!The name "weisse Sklaven" refers to a film from 1936 called "Panzerkreuzer Potemkin/Weisse Sklaven". Our most favourite Song "Wenn die Sonne hinter den Daechern versinkt" originates from this movie . We did not publish our version of it by now for copyright reasons. |
