Artist description
Terry Scott Taylor is considered one of the most prolific and critically-acclaimed songwriters performing today. He's well-known for his work as a solo artist and as the main writer, vocalist and producer for The Lost Dogs and Daniel Amos. Now he embarks on a new journey with Avocado Faultline. Produced with and mixed by multi-instrumentalist Phil Madeira (who has worked with Pierce Pettis, Rich Mullins, Alison Krauss, Phil Keaggy and Vigilantes of Love), the album includes performances by Steve Hindalong, Jimmy A, Riki Michele, Phil Madeira, Gene Eugene and others. Avocado Faultline is an acoustic based project that will appeal not only to Terry's current fans, but also to a new audience that may not be familiar with his earlier work. The music is a unique blend of pop, rock, Americana, and country. Heartfelt lyrics and songs rich with intelligent artistic expression highlight the album. Alfred Hitchcock made cameo appearances in all his later films. Oftentimes, he would play just a face in the crowd, like the pedestrian who gives Jane Wyman a double take while passing her on the street in "Stage Fright." But even without these unsubtle visual queues, it doesn't take a Sherlock Holmes to find the suspense master's unique fingerprints all over his work. Similarly, how can anyone listen to the widely varying work of Daniel Amos, Swirling Eddies or Lost Dogs, without also basking in Terry Taylor's shining spark of imagination behind them all? Each band is like a different color from ever-evolving musician's cinematic palate. The Swirling Eddies are sometimes like one of those absurd Coen Brothers films. The Lost Dogs, much like a John Ford epic, explore America's endlessly inspirational landscape. There's even a Stanley Kubrick-esque sci-fi quality to much of Daniel Amos' work. Taylor's Cinescope-Uke reach is infinite. But whenever Terry Scott Taylor signs just his own signature to a project, it's something truly eventful. -- by Dan Macintosh |
