Artist History
OCCUPATION: Thirty years with Dillons Food Stores. Currently scanning manager at the Dillons at Central and Oliver, Wichita, Ks., USA. REPERTOIRE: All original material. A unique style of contemporary Christian music. Mainly easy listening, pop, soft rock, and tropical. Small amounts of country, jazz, and symphonic. PRESENTATION: A solo act with an easy listening type of voice. I sing along to MP3 back tracks. I have all my own equipment and do not require much space, but I do need one electrical outlet. MUSIC BACKGROUND: Graduated from Wichita State University, 1977, with a bachelor’s degree in music theory/composition. In the early 80’s, I entered one of my jazz instrumentals in a Billboard Magazine competition. I received an honorable mention award for the entry. In 1989 I started performing popular secular music. I performed 10 to 20 times a year in Wichita, including craft shows, the Dillons at 21st and Rock Road, Savutes Restaurant, and at various functions in the Old Town business district. In 1994 I switched to performing Christian music. In 1995 I joined the SSGMA (Sunflower State Gospel Music Association) and remained a member through June, 2002. Also in 1995 I qualified for full membership with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers). I perform around 60-70 times a year, including churches, SSGMA concerts, senior centers, assisted living homes, nursing homes, and most recently, juvenile and adult correctional facilities. |
