    Artist History
Since their inception back in 1996, Brick Bath (then called Epitaph) has been hitting the San Diego scene HARD. They quickly attracted the attention of Woody Barber (Chainsaw Records) and Joel Maitoza (24-7 spyz drummer), and recorded their debut album "Scarred," unfortunately Chainsaw Records folded shortly after mixing the record and left the band wondering what was to become of all their hard work. Nevertheless the band immediately hit the road, playing to enthusiastic audiences night after night with bands like Testament, Stuck Mojo, Forbidden, Flotsam and Jetsam, Exodus, and numerous other acts. "Scarred" - paid homage to the more technically oriented metal of it's time and was, in essence, a dam barely restraining the heaviness waiting to be unleashed. After much soul searching during their road-weary days, Brick Bath was ready to unload the blood sweat and fears born of "Scarred's" recording and support touring. The end result was "I Wont Live The Lie" - a fresh, new album that captured the agony and ecstasy of Brick Bath becoming the band they were meant to be. "This record is about hitting your breaking point," explains Joey. "It's when you get to the point where you don't feel anything anymore, whatever it is that gets you to that point, things like anger, frustration & depression, when those feelings take over, that is I Wont Live The Lie." The album was produced by Brick Bath at Brick Bath Studios in Santee, CA, and mixed by Eric Meyer and Brick Bath at Golden Track in San Diego, CA. The band very disheartened with there first attempt, chose to record and release this record on their own, pushing them to new limits and helping to truly define the Brick Bath sound. This also gave the band a lot of confidence knowing that nobody was going to slow them down. While "Scarred" laid down the basic foundation of their brutally down-tuned guitars and an undeniable groove, "I Wont Live The Lie" took Brick Bath to a whole new level, letting down their guard and reaching new depths of emotion and heights of intensity. From the wall of guitars mauling the listener on "Inner Peace" to the over the top anger-fueled sonic assault on "Die Alone" to the melodic overtones on "Sick of You" and "Simple Life," Brick Bath has truly arrived with 14 new tracks that will send heavy music into a tailspin. "There's no point in riding the fine line. This whole record is extreme from one end of the spectrum to the other," says Pete. As Brick Bath embarks on their latest venture, they are doing so with humility and confidence at the same time - a paradox that has followed the band from the beginning. The songs on "I Wont Live The Lie" show how the band are fully prepared to set the world afire and renew faith in the personal nature of heavy music.

Brutal, heavy, obnoxious power metal! Salt and peppered with thrash and hardcore. If you put Pantera, Testament and Slayer in a blender, this album is what would be poured out! Don't choke on it! Great musicianship and super strong songwriting makes this album a diamond in the rough. This CD made my whole year! - Bloodsoaked Magazine........ If I didn't double check, I'd swear I had put Pantera's "Far Beyond Driven" in my stereo. It honestly sounds exactly like that disc, from the rugged guitar riffs to the distorted, throaty screams to the brutal skinbashing. The potential is there for this band to become a driving force with the metal community. -Into Obscurity Magazine........ Rating: 9 out of 10- Metal District Magazine........ Brick Bath is an aggressive fourpiece from Southern California. They describe themselves as a cross between Pantera and Testament, and I totally agree. I would also add Slayer to that list, which makes it even better. The disc kicks off with a fast, and killer tune, with some Slayer elements, and that makes "Inner Peace" one of the better tracks on the album. Other great tracks are "Sick of You" with its ultra-cool riffing, "I Won't Live the Lie" which has some insanely fast drumming, complex guitar work and great vocals and "Simple Life" which has a more laid back style of singing. In the other tracks you will also find extreme aggression, great vocals, fast drumming and generally a wall of sound that builds up in front of you. In my opinion, vocalist Joseph McCaw lifts this album way above the mediocre, he's clearly inspired by the likes of Chuck Billy and Phil Anselmo. You great value for your money by buying this CD, with 14 tracks and a total length of 53 minutes. Brick Bath are currently planning a US tour, so if you have the chance, go see them (I imagine they are even better live!). Rating: 7/10 - Morten S. Olsen........ Power metal shouldn't be in the same sentence with Brick Bath, how about powerful thrash where the Pantera is very evident in the vocals along with a hint of Sacred Reich and Flotsam And Jetsam in the outcry. The stunning part on I Won't Live The Lie is the screeching guitar solos that come from Eric Meyer, no relation to the Dark Angel guitarist of old. Out of all the so-called metalcore bands I've heard in the past few months, Crush Efekt and Headdown, Brick Bath take the checkered flag with the most dexterous riffing of the bunch, there are enough guitar solos for the next Testament CD and then some. The aggression starts with the intricate lead on the first song, and the arrangements are one of the highpoints of the release. Brick Bath are at their best when the solos melodically hammer on 'Legacy' & 'Erased', but they begin to demise with 'Pain My Friend', 'Need' and 'Oppression Kills' when the soloing vanishes in favor of down-tuned, Coal Chamber 'Loco' compositions. Rating: 7/10 - Metal Lives Magazine........ California's Brick Bath have the potential to go all the way. They write great songs, their musicianship is faultless and as this CD is self -produced, they obviously know their way around a studio. Brick Bath do have their own sound and it's an angry one, this is one pissed off album. Opener Inner Peace is a classic of it's genre. Hate filled vocals, crunching riffs, bouncing grooves and instantly memorable. Pantera must be wishing they wrote this, it's that good. I must have played this album about 20 times in the last 2 weeks, it's the sort of album you feel very comfortable with. You can play it in the background while you are doing something else and without realizing it, you are nodding your head or your foot's going through some spasmodic ritual. Especially on Oppression Kills and Need, which both have a Roots era Sepultura groove. But even after repeated plays, I can't put my finger on why I like this so much. The riffs of Eric Meyer are varied and well crafted, the rhythm section is tight and the vocals provided by Stone Cold Steve Austin look-alike Joey McCaw add the venom. I guess it's just a bloody good Metal album. If you're a fan of Vulgar or Trendkill era Pantera, then Brick Bath are a band you must discover. Even if you're not and you just appreciate angry, heads down stompin' Metal, then check 'em out all the same. If they get the right breaks, they're gonna be huge. - Live4metal Magazine........ * Check out the Brick Bath interview in Rock Reunion Magazine at: www.rockreunion.de/qa/brickqa.htm........
