Artist description Before she could speak she was listening. Before she could play she was watching. Music has always been a regular part of everyday life. Ruby wrote her first song at 9 and maintains that writing songs is not about getting on the radio. They just happen to be catchy. This proved to be fact when she formed her first band in 1998 and placed in the top 5 in New Orleans after entering the Jim Beam contest. And again in 1999 this time entering songs she co-wrote. These days she's playing clubs with her band WATER. Her writing abilities have attracted some of New Orleans' top notch musicians: Drummer, Derek Fritsche; Lead guitarist, Duke Russel and Bassist John Shelton. With each member offering creative input matching the same honesty and purity from which Ruby's writing originates, they bring a sound and energy to the stage that could easily be considered unchartered territory. Ruby's performance defies the typical female performing artist of today. Her guitar playing and vocals grab your attention and her true talent demands your respect.
