    Artist History
started a two or three years ago by brothers matt and shane jones on drums and guitar respectively. stayed a two peice for a few years eventually picking up a second guitarist while still looking for a bassist and singer to fill in the gaps. aaron jenkins joined on bass guitar and justin oatman joined on vocals. jim blasier was added to the mix and negativ seaven then had two vocalist. eventually the second guitarist was dispatched from the band as well as the singer justin. the line up has then stayed the same till the present; shane, matt, aaron, jim. the negativ seaven style has been evolving since its creation, but has never strayed from shanes pummeling guitar riffing and matts intense drumming. the negativ seaven sound has always been created by what the band enjoys, casting aside outside influences negativ seaven has forged its own brand of powerful and chaotic music that people either love or hate.

    Press Reviews
THE SYRACUSE NEW TIMES"Unhappy Together"Negativ Seaven births a monument to pissed-off youthby Allen CzelusniakFew local bands aside from Karl Buechner and Earth Crisis, can match thescreaming maelstrom of Jim Blasier and Negativ Seaven. The quartet's unsettling debut, "Stillborn" (VinylBrothers), sets a new standardfor leaving any trace of subtlety, nuance and melody thoroughly pummeled like a geek in a high school locker room. Loud, brash and pissed, Negativ Seaven's lyrics and music embody the anger specific to a disaffected youth, whether from a farm town or a big city.but at least these youngsters from the Central Square area have found an artisticoutlet for what ails them. The band radiates a sheer energy that simply explodes off the disc. Yet, with songs such as "Terrorist" proclaiming "the teachers and fagots are all demons and whores," it's clear these boys could stand at the very least, some sensitivity training. The touching "Killer's Mind" follows, further reinforcing the disc's dark motif. And if Shane Jones' raging metal guitar riffs and Matt Jones' heavy hits on the drums dont pound you into submission, the overwhelmingly fatalistic imagery of"Stillborn" will. The disc's artwork features some lovely sketches, including one of a person's elongated mouth being pulled apart by fish hooks, a skeletal angel wrapped in barbed wire, skeletal remains, and a smiling, emaciated character having a bad hair day. Just in case you still dont get the picture, the band includes some pithy quotesto ponder, including, "I'll cock the gun and close my eyes/the lies I can smell the burning truth of it arise." Rather than simply dismissing Negativ Seaven as another grunting neo-metal band, it's probably better to pay attention to them in the way that one watches a weather vane. They portend of things to come. Like it or not, many in the next generation of rockers feel little need to perform music to which an audience can dance or sing along to. These guys crank it out heavy and hard, leaving nothing but big waves in thier wake. The band recorded "Stillborn" under the watchful eyes of Vinyl Brothers impresarios Jeff Jones and Steve Zaf at Pyramid Sound in Ithaca, NY. The Brothers accurately capturedall the rage without sacrificing sound quality. Whether listeners enjoy the crushing experienceof listening to "Stillborn" boils down to taste. Thos whose tastes run toward Top 40, jazz and groove-rock can safely return "Stillborn" to the record bin where they found it. For fans of old Korn, Earth Crisis or skull-smashing metal, it's worth a sample. The members of Negativ Seaven know how to make noise far better than they know how to spell.
