Press Reviews
Artist: Maxine: MaxFactor(4-song demo)By Jennifer Layton, Indie-Music.com Maxine is an NYC-based R&B/soul singer in her early 20s who has been singing since the age of ten. She writes her own songs and produced one of the tracks on her 4-song demo. Although the lyrics to all these songs focus on love/sexual attraction, she’s wisely chosen different styles of music with which to showcase her voice. It’s all R&B, but “Happy” has a bit of a jazz feel and “If You Wanna Be Mine” has some 70s funk guitar riffs.“You and Me” is the best example of what her voice can do, showing both her high and low range. This is a dance track that would sound perfectly at home on Top 40 R&B radio. Maxine is currently looking for a major record deal, and I think she’s put together a strong demo that is capable of attracting that kind of interest. Listen.com ReviewListen.com's expert editors review the hits! Soprano supreme, maxfactor's sweet, girlish voice makes her odes to anything and everything romantic sound like they could have been sung by a teenager. R&B songs are all dressed in hip-hop ornamentation, with sputtering beats and bass shifting shape beneath soft vocals. Kali H. |
