    Artist History
Ken Clark is one of the few, if not the only, organist performing in the Boston area on the authentic Hammond B3 organ, with bass pedals, played as a jazz instrument in the traditional manner as Jimmy Smith did. Ken Clark and guitarist Mike Mele have been the core of the trio since 1992 and in their many incarnations have captivated audiences night after night. Working with Rounder recording artist Michelle Willson, they have performed at blues and jazz festivals across the country and around the world. Clark performed live on WGBH radio in Boston this year with saxophonist Nat Simpkins, playing bass solos with his feet - an act rarely attempted by even the greatest organists.
    Group Members
Clark has performed at the Boston Globe Jazz Festival and recorded with jazz saxophone legend David "Fathead" Newman on John Stein's "Hotcakes" cd. Clark also performed with saxophonist Bill Pierce (formerly of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers) at the Regatta Bar in Cambridge. Clark performed live on WGBH radio in Boston this year with saxophonist Nat Simpkins, playing bass solos with his feet - an act rarely attempted by even the greatest organists. Northeast Performer magazine referred to Ken's solo performance on Liz Lannon's "Blues Party" cd as the "highlight of the recording". Other recordings Ken can be heard on include the blues group Fatwall Jack's "Girl Next Door" cd.___Mele works with veterans such as Barry Reese (of Horace Silver Group) in the traditional jazz scene. Drummer Steve Chaggarris has worked with pianist Ran Blake (chairman of New England Conservatory Third Stream division).
