Artist History
Eric Mulford Band Bio
The Eric Mulford Band started with Eric Mulford, who was born in Trenton, New Jersey, and grew up around the south ending up in middle Tennessee at the age of 11. Eric first became really interested in playing music at the age of 15 while listening to the Beatles Abbey Road album that he had remembered listening to as a small child with his parents. He then started seeking out more and more Beatles albums to satisfy his musical hunger, as well as records from some of the other great songwriting bands of the sixties and seventies such as the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. Eric also was finding that he really enjoyed such sixties sounds as Smokey Robinson and the Temptations from the legendary days of Motown.
Eric knew that he was growing to truly love music, but didnt get to start taking guitar lessons until a year later at the age of 16. But after only three weeks of lessons Eric had put together his very first song. Seeing that he had found something that he was pretty good at he decided to give it a try a few more times, and within a few months he had built up a fairly healthy repertoire of original material.
In 1996 Eric recorded a solo independent E.P. entitled Everythings Clear which included four of Erics original songs and featured Eric on vocals, lead and rhythm guitar, 12-string acoustic guitar, bass and harmonica. This E.P. also featured Nick Nokes, who also did the engineering of the project, on piano and lead guitar on one of the tracks, and Travis Johnson on drums.
As a solo artist Eric has played such venues as the Living Room and C-Note in New York City, NY, Eddies Attic in Atlanta, Georgia, and the Flying Saucer Beer Emporium in Nashville and Memphis, TN. Eric has also made an appearance on FOX 4 TV in Kansas City, MO and was a music guest for the cast of MTVs Real World New Orleans where he performed live on New Orleans Access TV in New Orleans, Louisiana.
In the fall of 2000 Eric joined forces with his long time recording friends Nick Nokes, who had been playing keyboards and lead guitar in bands since his early teens, Travis Johnson on drums and Kevin Jones on bass, both of whom had also been in bands for several years, to form the Eric Mulford Band.
Within only a year and a half of booking their first show in a small club in Murfreesboro, TN, the band had already opened for such great bands as Huey Lewis and the News, Shawn Mullins, Better Than Ezra, and Sister Hazel. They were also featured in the Winter/Spring 2002 edition of Billboards Musicians Guide to Touring and Promotion and have played twice at the annual Kansas City Spirit Festival in Kansas City, MO, which brings in over 200,000 people over the weekend each year.
The band has recently wrapped up production on their debut album Party of the Ages.
