Artist History
Originally from a country town near Australia's Great Barrier Reef, Karen Jacobsen was born to touch people's lives through her music, writing songs since the age of seven. A classically trained pianist, Karen studied jazz in Brisbane, Australia before relocating once more to Sydney, Australia's largest city, where she has performed extensively. Her piano-based pop songs are direct, honest and very personal reflections of her own experiences. Karen has performed at Sydney venues including The Basement, Harbourside Brasserie, The Cat And Fiddle, The Three Weeds, Iguana Bar (Tuesday Nite Club), and at Club Acoustica. Karen received national television exposure as a regular performer on "Good Morning Australia", and has travelled to perform her songs in Malaysia and Thailand. Recently, Karen was an invited performer at the Circle Of Songs Showcase in Los Angeles, CA, and the New York Songwriter's Circle at The Bitter End in New York City. Karen's third indie cd, "As I Am", was released in May 2000, and the piano vocal treatments of her songs have been described as 'deeply touching' and 'wonderfully real'. Currently writing material for her next cd, Karen is busy increasing her web presence, with her cds now available at cdbaby.com/jacobsen and having a very fun, gorgeous website designed. |
