    Artist History
After leaving a previous hardcore band Tripline in May 2000, Tom wanted to start up something more fitting with his guitar playing style. During the last few weeks of his previous band, he became friends with Josh and began to joke about starting a metal band. Shortly after Tripline had broken up, In June 2000 they decided to start a metal band. But obviously a vocalist and a guitarist wouldn't be enough they next thought of drummers. Tom found out that Josh went to school with a drummer that was in Tom's previous band for like 3 weeks. He knew Rob was into some metal like Nile so Tom got Josh to ask Rob if he would be interested in drumming in a metal band. Next thing we knew in June 2000, Rob had his gigantic drum set at Tom's house and we wrote the first song ever, COMA. The song basically started out as a joke, but we began to like it. Being just a 3 piece for about three months with no luck finding a bass player of second guitarist. They recorded a 3 song Demo in September. In November 2000, Tom was hanging out with Kevin the second guitar player in ex-Tripline and he asked if he could be the second guitarist for HSM. The rest of the band was okay with it, then the band was still short a bass player. 3 more songs were written, and on X-mas night the still incomplete band played live on WUNH Durham 91.3 and got the set recorded. In January 2001 Josh moved to providence (about a 2 hour drive away from the practice space) leaving the band to find another vocalist. The band tried a couple of people they knew but they didn't work out. Josh would still come up and do the vocals for the shows the band got until they found someone else. Josh officially left the band in March. HSM Welcomes Nate (ex-As I bleed) to the band as the permanent bass player in April 2001 In June 2001, Kevin started working at the same place as Rob, and they had met someone that came to a couple of our shows, dug our stuff and wanted to try out for vocals. He came to practice one day and we started playing the set through and he basically did whatever. He scared us somewhat at first because he was sorta going through each vocal ability he had. The first style was all high pitch and wierd sounding, we didn't dig that style much. He started doing some other styles and then we knew he was in. HSM welcomes Jeff to the band as the new vocalist. Finally Halo Suffocation Machine becomes a Full fuckin band. yay.
