Artist History
fed by ravens started in February of ’97 as a four- piece called Lugosi, playing heavy, metal hardcore. That summer, guitarist Nick Koenigs was added and the name was changed to Fed by Ravens. They played countless shows around the mid-west and released a self-titled 7” on the Minneapolis label, Apathy Press Records. This record was followed by a song on the Deadself Records compilation “Blessed be This Killing”, which after a number of lineup changes in the band, led to a full length CD entitled “This Service of Love” on the same label. “This Service of Love” represents a crossover of metal, hardcore, and rock styles, as well as utilizing new vocalist Jake Johnson’s saxophone skills. The band tightened their energetic live performance by touring for three weeks in the summer of ’99 through the south and mid-west. Over the years the Ravens have played shows with: Zao, Harvest, Extol, Training for Utopia, NIV, and Converge. The summer of 2000 brings us the band’s self-released EP, “Second Guessing Second Chances” which showcases more matured songwriting and studio skills from the remix interludes to the Farfisa organ just creeping into the mix during “Behind the Music”. This record was followed by another two week mid-west tour. |
