Artist description
The Deb Mullins Band is a seductively inspiring R&B group roused by sparks of Funk, Soul, Gospel, Jazz and Rock & Roll. Fronted by the sultry-throated Deb Mullins, DMB initiated their aspiring musical trek in 1995. DMB is more than the average R&B act. The project is flanked by the thumping rhythms of Jerry Brown’s bass. Exemplified by Dennis Sturdevant’s fluid keystrokes. Launched into orbit by the searing guitar work of Brian Chandler and grounded by the steadfast percussion of Eric Jones, Deb Mullins’ vocal delivery steams and fevers greatly of passion, sorrow, vitality and undaunted pain. On stage, with mic in hand, Deb Mullins is nothing shy of captivating."...On stage, with mic in hand, Ms. Debra Mullins is nothing shy of captivating." -Indianapolis Star Find out more at www.elementalmedia.net! |

Press Reviews
Deb Mullins realized at a very early age—at a church picnic when she was 3 years old— the rewards of attention from an audience. Deb credits her mother for pushing her into music. In addition to her debut at the church picnic, which blossoms into a church radio and TV show, the Mullins family had a gospel radio show. With a long history in show business, Deb is very active in many fields of the industry. She has been a member of Actors Ink, a ten-person cabaret group that performed at the Madame Walker Theatre and other Indiana venues. During that time, she met people and made professional contacts, and her experiences included singing the "Star Spangled Banner" for the Pacers and doing arrangement for several local groups. For several years, Deb started doing soundtracks and arrangements for the Phoenix Theatre. She has also provided musical services for Theatre On The Square. In her current stint once a month at Ruth Ellen’s restaurant, Deb performs piano music and old standards. She and her band have played in local and regional clubs and in Detroit, Michigan. Deb has given workshops, entertained and played at the National Women’s Music Festival in Bloomington, IN. Deb’s band has also opened for Windham Hill recording artist, Barbara Higbee and Olivia Records recording artist, Teresa Trull. It is often difficult to nail down a description of Deb’s musical style: rocky blues, rock n roll with heartfelt soul, or "The Mullins sound" may be the best the writer can do. (Indianapolis Star) DEB MULLINS is a captivating vocalist and entertainer with over twenty-five years experience on the stage, in radio, and in the studio. (She began performing at age three...). She has a sultry, exciting voice and combines it with a relaxed, yet energetic manner that has pleased audiences in many cities - from the southeast coast, to Detroit, Chicago and many other areas. She now resides in Indianapolis and has for the last several years. Her work in this area ranges from the music festival circuit to the theatre. She has done numerous productions for the Phoenix Theatre, Theatre On The Square, and Garage Productions. She has an established fan base here for her work with the Deb Mullins Band in clubs such as the Vogue, Walker Theatre, Glacier's End Brewing Company, Tropical Bay, Legends, and Jazz In Action /Fountain Square Theatre, Utopia. She is sure to fill your room and keep coming back. (Women in the Arts/National Women's Music Festival) “The chorus of Two Sides to Every Story, "If you want some attention, you've got to pay attention to me," summarizes the album's philosophy. Deb Mullins may portray a wronged woman in the seven tracks of Killed In Cold Love, but her vocals retain a winning sweetness. She's a strong storyteller, whether the news is bad (the title track and Blind, Deaf, and Numb) or good (Got To My Heart). Mullins no-nonsense outlook is underscored with the project's lone cover, a Rendition of Little Milton's Don't Mess With Mother Nature. There's also flexibility beyond the blues–the near gospel backing vocals and Too Many Times, which mixed calypso flavor with a style reminiscent of 70's Rock band Heart.
