Artist description Why in the hell would anyone post a band up on MP3.com, which doesn't exist anymore? Well, not many people heard the SHATTERGRAVES stuff before and due to inspiration of a friend / fan, we thought, better to put it up than let it rot unheard. That just wouldn't be worth all the work, would it?!

Musical Influences everything between Heavy Metal (like old Metallica), Thrash Metal (Sodom, Sepultura,...) and Death / Black Metal (Cannibal Corpse, Hypocrisy, Dissection,etc.)

Artist History In 1995 the two brothers Anreas & Martin Maske had the Idea to found a Metallica like Band, which they called "Homeless" after a friend (Gerrit Beckhaus) joined them. Martin had a small drumset, and Gerrit an e-guitar (no amp). Andy played the guitar, too, but all he had was a small acoustic one. After those kids (their ages varied between 14 and 16 years) played around for 'bout a year (the equipment had grown to drums, two e-guitars and two amps), they found the bass player Christian Bergmann. The song repertoire had also grow to 4 Songs plus Intro, thus the first gig was played in October '95 (the vocals were done by Andreas). More songs were written, old ones disposed, some more gigs followed (all in all ten) and the cast changed, too. In 1996 Bass Christian & Gerrit left the band and after a new rhythm guitarist Stefan Ledabyl was found, the first self produced Demo "Moonrise" got recorded by Andreas on a 4 track tape recorder in early 1997 (but never published 'cause of its crappy sound). Soon bass player Matthias Dirks and Vocalist Henning Heup were found and before Andreas left Germany for half a year, the seconsd "Moonrise" Demo was recorded in the summer of '97. In the time of Andreas' absence Marco Heubaum, who also recorded the second Demo (on an 8 track tape deck), played as a session lead guitarist. In that time first musical / personal differences started to tear the band asunder. So after Andy returned, more discussions than practices took place, which finally ended in Martin leaving the band and the others finding the new drummer Gerrit Lamm. SHATTERGRAVES still played some gigs, but somehow (without Martin and with diverging musical tastes) the songwriting didn't work out anymore which caused the band to finally stop existing after a final gig in February 1999 (Rest In Peace, SHATTERGRAVES).

Group Members Durig the recordings of the Moonrise Demo(n), SHATTERGRAVES consisted of Andreas Maske (Guitars, Screams), Martin Maske (Drums), Matthias Dirks (Bass), Henning Heup (Vocacls) and Stefan Ledabyl (Live Guitars). Keyboards and backing vocals in the song "Moonrise" were performed by Marco Heubaum, who also recorded / produced the demo.
