Artist History
Early in 1999, guitarist/vocalist Daniel A. Rochester began recording some demos, playing guitars and bass, and using a drum machine, just to see what they would sound like. He liked the way his recording was turning out, so he teamed up with bassist Graham Cranston and together they hammered out a four or five more demos. Through Dan R’s brother, Dru Fraser heard these early demos, and was impressed. He was immediately invited to join the band as another guitarist. Through Dru, the trio was hooked up with drummer Dan Cameron. Shadow Fax had been born, although technically that wasn’t their name. Some of the demos were submitted to a radio contest under the name ‘pushdown’ but the demos were of worse quality than even the name, and needless to say, come to nothing. ‘Manifold’ was another incarnation of the final name choice, ‘Shadow Fax’. A final demo was made, this time by Dru and Dan R, and after it had been done, the band decided that it was time to record a full studio album. This album, 'Conversations Low' is in the late mixing process and is to be released on March 11, 2001 on Cryptic Records. |
