Artist History
Gone Since Five was founded in 1996 under the name ThRe3 CaR GaRagE. Doug Wilkinson (drums) and Rich Williams (guitar and vocals) founded the band to experiment with a new type of folk music utilizing folk guitar, industrial bass and drum, and metal-influenced vocals. In 1998, after a short break due to two original band members moving, Rich’s long-time best friend, Travis Jaquess, (bass) joined the band as an experienced drummer-turned-bassist. During the very first rehearsal, while relearning some of the band’s earliest songs, a shot rang out, a window shattered, and Travis fell to the floor as he had been purposely shot in the face by an unknown sniper from outside with a B.B. gun. Scurrying to investigate the matter, the band was born out of an incessant need to locate and identify the culprit. After finding out that the infamous rock band Hanson had released an early record called 3 Car Garage in the mid 1990’s, Gone Since Five acquired a new name along with a new guitarist, Joe Price, (electric guitar) and set to work on their first full-length project, “This is How You Felt.”The band has played in many venues across the state and plays festivals, concerts, and benefits. Gigging weekly, the band also continues to write, rehearse, and record. GS5’s show is energetic and humorous, while maintaining a comfortable environment for their soulful, lyrical songwriting. While influences range from folk to metal, rap to country, and pop to indie, Gone Since Five's unmistakable and original sound continues to evolve, as do the members.
