Artist History
Flyweil originated in Dayton, Ohio in the late 1970's, and after experiencing much local success,moved to San Diego in the early 1980's. After some members changes, Flyweil quickly became San Diego's most popular bandof the period. The band were winners of five local battle of the band contests, as well as a national talent search that culminated in a TV appearance on a special hosted by Willy Nelson and later aired on the Nashville Network. Flyweil was sponsered by Budweiser, Fender Guitars and GHS stringsfrom 1989 - 1993. They have recorded extensively, and their self-titled CD released in 1990 sold over 10,000copies regionally. They also had songs with regular airplay on both San Diego and Los Angeles radio stations.Besides regular appearances at top San Diego clubs such as the Bachannal and Park Place,Flyweil appeared at such L.A.stalwarts as The Whisky, and the Roxy. The band toured for many years and opened for a multitude of headlining acts such as Quiet Riot, Brian Setzer,UFO and Bad English. |
