Artist History
Common Ground is a Virginia based musical outfit with a diversity of musical styles and genres. Although contemporary jazz is their forte, their flexibility is unlimited, making for smooth musical transitions. Under the musical direction of former Howard University Jazz Studies student and bassist Tim Jones (Buffalo, N.Y.), who excels in writing and arranging, Common ground has been able to tap resources other groups have overlooked in the past. Whether it be an old jazz standard rearranged to please the contemporary listener, or a recent urban-styled hit remade to give it a classic feel, Common Ground approaches these musical challenges with taste and imagination. Also featured are guitarist Lee Edgecombe (Philadelphia, PA.), a mainstay on the Washington Area jazz club and session scene. Elliot Levine, from Silver Spring, MD, who writes, arranges, and plays keyboards. He has been a household name throughout the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area. Morrice Teel, of New Haven, Conn., a " drummer from the urban music scene has diversified his talent to adapt to the demands of a jazz player. Pete Jordan of Cincinnati, Ohio, who has had stints with Ben E. King and Heatwave, just to name a few, fronts the band with his tasteful saxophone playing. With all the key elements firmly in place, Common Ground will undoubtedly stand he "Taste-of- Time" within the ever- changing musical world ...Enjoy! Bookings Contact: Tim Jones at 703-497-2481 |
