Artist description
First started writing rhymes while in the fourth grade. My first rap performance came weeks later at a city wide talent show, where I won first prize for a rap I wrote about life as an elementary student. By the 10th grade, I was attending my 7th different school out of four different states. Everywhere I went, I still performed at local talent shows performing raps that I wrote, never coming in less than 2nd place. Not knowing that my dreams of becoming a rap artist would have to be put on hold, due to an obligation to join the military to help support my family. In September of 1995, I entered into the U.S. Air Force. Even while in Basic Military Training, I continued to write raps and would perform them after hours in my bay area. As time went on, I had my first military assignment at Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama. In 1996, another military member heard me rap at a friend’s party. She informed me that she knew a group of guys who were working on starting a record label. To weeks later, we met at the CEOs apartment. I performed a song I had wrote the previous year entitled "These Days" and was approved. Eventually, the label progressed into what is now known as Dark Image Entertainment. As of today, my solo album has sold over 150 copies with no promotion, and no radio play. For questions/comments, please email me at Bishop@Bishopt.net |
