WHO IS VAIN PREACHER?VAIN PREACHER ("the band"), as of the debut of this website and the CD "PROPHET MOTIVE", consists of the three individuals who participated in its creation:JUSTIN PARADINE- Lead Guitar,SALVATORE MINETTA - Drums-Recording/Website Engineer,BRIAN CAVIN DALES-Writer/Producer,All Lead Guitar solos performed by Justin Paradine;" Letter to My Lady" written and performed by Justin Paradine. All compositions engineered and mastered by Salvatore Minetta; Website design created and engineered by Salvatore Minetta. All compositions (except "Letter to My Lady"-Paradine; drums on prayer, background vocals on Market Maker-Minetta) written and performed by Brian Cavin Dales VAIN PREACHER (the character) is the cyber-ego of Brian Cavin Dales, and the culmination of a musical association between he, Justin and Salvatore dating back to 1989. The songs "Everybody wants it all", "Anyone but Me", "Old New City", the title song " Prophet Motive" and Justin's " Letter to My Lady" were all recorded in 1991 on Salvatore's 24-track analog/Macintosh combination; this was their first exposure to the use of computer and midi-and the birth of Brian's writing style of classic forms of orchestration overlaying a progressive white-English rock format founded in the traditions of the British 'Super groups' of the 1970's and 80's such as Who/Zep/Floyd/Queen/etc. If that sounds dated, bear in mind that Justin and Brian are pushing fifty, while Salvatore is closing in on forty; this is no boy-band. A bit old for straight metal but raised on rock nonetheless, these early influences live on in their music; yet it has a distinctly contemporary sound- driving but melodic, a sort of psuedo-gothic dungeon-of-doom lyrical theme-a real Down Load, if you will...So?...DOWNLOAD AND TURN UP-YOU'LL LOVE IT ! |
