Artist History
Robots individually designed by Dr. Jeremias Futurus in the year 2114. After the Great Polar Shift of 2096 a change in history was necessary for mankind to survive. These robots where sent back in time by hurling themselves through a solar flare whose magnetic field was so strong that it curved space time enough to return them back by the earth year 1996. At that time they began their crusade to save the world through their convergent diversities of tones, styles, and genres. They continue today, ready to rock your world to save humanity. |

Press Reviews
RAPPER B.O.V.'S LATEST ALBUM POSITIVELY WORTH A LISTEN Wisconsin State Journal; Madison; Jan 21, 1999; Natasha Kassulke The Baum Squad, "Blam!"There is no need to run for cover. They're not terrorists; they just sound like it. The Baum Squad will rock your world over and over.In fact, to offer a twist on The Offspring's latest overplayed hit, I'd say John, Justin and Paul Baumgaertner are "pretty fly" for some white guys who came from La Crosse and grew up practicing in their parents' basement. The sound on the Baum Squad's 17-song "Blam!" CD (a follow-up to their eight-song "First Course" cassette) is similar to that of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The first thing you notice about The Baum Squad is that they've got a way of parlaying their bouncy melodies and producing a groove along with some surprise random rantings on songs like "Free."And just try to keep up with the vocals and drums on "It's Not My Fault." You'll agree that you need songs like the melodic "Would You Know" just to bring you back down.Ska and rap collide with rock on "Don't Cut Me Off." The vocals are layered on "Suddenly" and "My Life" but the short "Introfunktive" has no lyrics, instead mixing and scratching to get the point across.Songs such as "Last Command" are guitar heavy like Faith No More tunes. They are funky without the horns of most ska-flavored bands and they move in a metallic fury. The title track, however, drones and dwells on paranoia. And "Beacon" doesn't fit. It sounds like Hawkwind hyped up.For more information on the Baum Squad visit the Internet at ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Spoon/. |
