Artist History
Our mission statement (blah, blah, blah);Old Buddy Jack is a "Party-Rock" band for the people, only to last as long as the masses will allow.FORGET THAT MAN! "We want to throw a party, and people to party with!"Here's the story...Old Buddy Jack was formed in the Fall of 1994 by: John "Novy" Nowak (Lead Vocals & Drums), Jason Corrick (Lead Guitar), and Jeff "Buff" Nowak (Bass Guitar - at the time). In August of 1995, with a fist full of cover tunes and a good time to be had, the founding members took their "party" live to the local dives and watering holes of the Ohio Valley. Self proclaimed as the Ohio Valley's ONLY live Karaoke band, and boasting the phrase "Don't Party Without Your Buddy", OBJ quickly established a territory and a sound. In January of 1998, friend and resident soundman Steve Riedel joined - taking over Bass Guitar duties - moving Jeff to Rhythm Guitar. With this expanded sound also came an increase in friendships and fans. This realization was the perfect opportunity for the band to use their growing success to help the less fortunate. In March of 1999, the instrument of their supporting plan was introduced as the "Buddy Bucket". Since then, the passing of the "Bucket" at OBJ shows has raised over $1,250. These proceeds have aided such charitable organizations as: Easter Seals, The Muscular Dystrophy Association, and the M.S. Walk-America.It was not until the Winter of 1999 did OBJ turn their focus to original music. This event was with respect to the encouragement of their followers and (personally) an inspiration toward a new goal. Throughout 2000, most efforts by the band were in pursuit of this goal.Old Buddy Jack continues to pride itself today, not simply in the music they provide, but in their friends who are the show. The band keeps in contact with these individuals through different media, including; a 300+ mailing list, 75+ e-mail list, website and HOTLINE number. |

Press Reviews
PRESS RELEASEWhere's the Party? If you were to ask this of a weekend warrior, lurking in the hills of the Tri-State area, they would ask you in return, "Where's Old Buddy Jack"? This has been the accumulating response of all die-hard partiers in the Ohio Valley for several years. "Can I get a Hell Yeah?" OBJ has been the exclusive Saturday night friend/buddy to party with since the Fall of 1995. But, this party isn't always about smoke and drink; it's about good times and great friends "Rockin' it out"! What's this buzz all about? Now, the party can start and go anywhereÉ any timeÉWith the release of their debut CD, titled "Home Brew", you can carry-out a pack of OBJ flavors you can consume in your own place and time. This declaration is a mixture of everything that defines OBJ as a band and the followers they call friends. The styles of this recipe range from the classic and southern rock influences of AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Kiss to the contemporary alternative metal twists of White Zombie and Limp Biskit. Following in the influential footsteps of their cover material, this substance can basically be summed up as "Party-Rock"! The subjective content is simply our relations to life and our surroundings. From the party anthem chants of "Six-Pack of Sanity", thought provoking lyrics in "Result of War", to the affirmations of self-esteem in "Jack S*@#"; thereÕs something in this brew for everyone. A couple of favorite covers are also on-tap for your partying pleasures. To remain true to the live experience, the heart of the communication of the band to their friends, OBJ approached this project with an "almost live" attitude. This was achieved by a live studio performance, with minimal track by track production. This experience was made possible through the services of long time friend and studio veteran Jamie Peck, owner of Jamie Peck Productions, Wheeling, WV.The line-up of musicians are as follows: John "Novy" Nowak (Lead Vocals, Drums), Jason Corrick (Lead Guitar), Jeff "Buff" Nowak (Rhythm Guitar) and Steve Riedel (Bass Guitar). An additional level of interest is present with the vocal talents of Scott Nolte (of local sports casting fame) on the testosterone driven track "Touchdown".CDs will be available to the general public at several Ohio Valley locations, including; Sam Goody in the Ohio Valley Mall and CA House on Rt.40 in St. Clairsville. In addition, you can get in touch with OBJ, for CDs, schedules or merchandise through their web site at www.oldbuddyjack.com, or call the HOTLINE at 740-676-5150.With their continuing efforts, the members wish to take their party everywhere. If you've been looking for fun; if you've been searching for that eternal buzz - you don't have to look much furtherÉjust remember, "Don't Party Without Your Buddy"! |
