Artist description
Lynda comes from a musical family, learning to appreciate intricate vocal harmonies from listening to her father sing with his friends, and from singing with her own family. Growing up in a small town, she didn't have the opportunity for lessons. Lynda believes that music is a passion and comes from the heart. She proved that by first learning to playing by ear then learning to write music by just doing it. As a child, Lynda spent many hours in the garage, playing an old painted piano. Her first instrumental arrangement at the age of nine was "Benjamin, Franklin, and Thomas"...about her three cats. Lynda loves fairy tales, especially swan lore. Her favorite fairy tale, "The Ugly Duckling"; a story about strength, survival, and finding your place. She also loves Canadian Geese. Flocks of geese live behind her home and fly over her home in a path to and from the river, morning and evening. Her passion for making the world a better, safer, and happier place for children is just one of the many fine qualties that make Lynda more than a terrific artist. |

Press Reviews
I'm impressed at how unique and vibrant Lynda's music is, while being so honest to herself and the listener. Lynda's music has a simple honesty to it. Her music can be decieving, you relax and get sweep away by it's apparently simple and straight forward approach . Yet once you fall into her trance you start to realize it's beautiful complexity and fullness, all accenting her angelic and fairy-like vocals. To label her an "American" Enya would be unfair to Her, since as much as they maybe alike, they are worlds apart. What truly makes her music so lifting is her voice and if any mortal was gifted with the true voice of the angels, I would gather that person is Lynda Johnson. - VAMusic411 --- Lynda, a mix of Enya, Kate Bush, and Karen Carpenter, offers up an incredibly relaxing and musically compelling CD, Will You Remember. Beautiful lush harmonies, and instrumentation that includes gorgeous oboe passages, among several other classic and tasteful instruments including flutes, english horn, and saxphones - masterfully played by Daron Bradford - as well as others on fiddle, accordion, keys, bass, and percussion. Lynda's songs - magic, but her voice is the spark and attraction here - angelic and controlled, passionate and childlike - elegant. The songs point to losses in the past and remembering the joys and sadness of Lynda's life. "Satin Shoes" has Enya like qualities that are entirely Lynda's own - describing the shoes worn by a little girl at a wedding, that somehow touch Lynda's imagination and thoughts of what "an enchanting lady you will be" and how they "somehow hold the key to her heart" - spiritual and thoughtful. "Made byHand", with lead vocal credited to Stephanie Johnson, clearly Lynda's daughter, is touching, and the leaf is very close to the tree as Stephanie performs her youthful part flawlessly. - earBUZZ |
