    Artist description
Emdot_Ambient presents an electronic music at once familiar and new, an electronic music that fits neatly into no defined stylistic niche, an individualistic interpretation of composition that makes reference to many traditions but emulates none. Non-academic electronic music was founded on the use of technology to achieve new ways of composing, producing, hearing and thinking about music. It was as individualistic as its odd practitioners. That is, at its origin electronic music was not about style or genre at all. Quite the opposite, the pioneers of this art form were outsiders. Their music was not about spinning the latest sound, but using the newest tools to expand the boundary of what we consider to be music, expanding our ability to relate to sound and opening our sensitivity to the listen experience. Emdot_Ambient does not strive to open shockingly new vistas, only to pay homage to the founders by presenting his singular view, filtered through the technology of today. Analog thinking in a digital realm.

    Artist History
Emdot started making strange noises in 1977 on an antique pump organ, recording wheezy asthmatic drones to accompany the sounds of cars swishing by his home. Since that time he has explored electronic sonorities in various guises, driven always by the creation and manipulation of sound rather than compositional style. His latest works explore the possibilities of software synthesizers and fit neatly into no category, treading the fine lines between ambient, abstract, new age and electronica.
